I've developed a simple method based on tried and true techniques using two basic scales and the value of rhythm. Navigating the fret board is not complicated using root notes as your guide. It's a musical conversation with periods, exclamation points and question marks. The grammar in music is created with timing and notes. Ending a phrase on the downbeat often creates a period. Ending on the 2 beat often creates a question mark. Understanding the language and how to apply it using timing and feel is the key to playing well.
